Adoption Procss

Express
your interest

If you are interested in adopting, please complete our adoption application form.

Schedule
a house visit

Once we receive the completed form, we will arrange with a volunteer to do a home inspection.

Complete
the application

If your home is approved, you will pay the adoption fee, sign the adoption contract and arrange to collect your new friend.

Prepare
your home

Make sure you get food and water bowls, food for the first couple of days, treats and perhaps a toy or two. Also ensure they have a cozy place to rest where they will feel safe and comfortable.

Pick-up
your new friend

When picking up your new friends, consider they will be a little startled with new people and environments. Make sure you have a non-choking leash and blanket for when they join you in the car.

Adopt, Don't Shop

We love a puppy as much as the next person. But we want everyone to seriously consider adopting a basset before thinking of getting a new puppy. Here are a couple reasons why we believe you should do so.

Saving a life

We have re-homed thousands of bassets. About 75% of animals are surrendered for adoption due to human circumstances! When you adopt an animal you help to negate that horrific statistic.

A puddle free home

Bassets are notoriously stubborn. Finding a slightly older one might be better if you are unable to invest the time of house training them. They  do make the most loyal friends though!

Find the perfect one

One-fourth of dogs in animal shelters are purebred. So there will be a good chance of you finding your perfect companion in terms of breed, temperament and cuteness!

Less expensive

Adoption fees are only a drop in the ocean getting our bassets ready for adoption. All SABA dogs are sterilised, microchipped, dewormed and receive the necessary vaccinations before they are rehomed.
